Frou Frou – Must Be Dreaming
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uryUCVhjtr4
This stunning music video features Frou Frou, the duo Imogen Heap and Guy Sigsworth. As the title of the song suggests, we’re immersed in a dreamworld in this video, which uses all sorts of interesting effects to plunge us from one scene into the next. About halfway through is an incredibly cosmic vision of Imogen under water, perhaps representing her dream state.
Kelis – Acapella
Kelis presents us this stunning video for her new song Acapella, which is about the birth of her son Knight. She sings of the new passion and joy in her life now that her newborn has arrived. Kelis has certainly come a long way since recording “Milkshake”. We see this reflected in the video, which is vibrantly colorful and very much alive. Kelis presents herself in a variety of locations, which might represent the elements or different aspects of Life. She does fantastic things with hair, clothing, body paint, and a beautiful mask. It’s truly a beautiful video, and an inspiring song!

Linkin Park – New Divide
This video is for Linkin Park’s single New Divide, which was in the Transformers movie. While the Transformers footage in the video isn’t our favorite part, we do very much enjoy the visual effects and transitions used in the video. Chester, who is singing, is often visualized with elemental looking energies. Switching back and forth from the band to the movie footage, there are some really interesting transformations going on. An exciting video and one that’s been beautifully rendered.

Black Eyed Peas – Meet Me Halfway
The Black Eyed Peas make a bold move with this video, which seems very clearly to be about the upcoming union of the physical and astral planes. Fergie represents the physical, lying on the Earth and looking up to the sky. Apl represents the astral, floating in space and searching for his love. At the end, the two unite by walking into what look like inter-dimensional portals. Since many believe this kind of connection will be taking place soon (or is already) it’s very interesting that this highly symbolic video would come from such a large band. Then again, the Peas have always been pretty cosmic.
Like what you hear? We highly recommend the Peas’ latest CD THE E.N.D. (Energy Never Dies) as it is loaded with dance-worthy beats, powerful lyrics, and messages for today’s youth: the leaders of tomorrow.
Sara Bareilles – Gravity
Sara Bareilles’ beautiful song Gravity is about her first heartbreak. She compares the pull massive objects have on each other to the pull of her first love on her heart, leading up to the climax “but the one thing that I still know is that you’re keeping me down!” Very beautiful and moving song. In the video, which is all one shot, Sara walks down the street while passersby illustrate the Sun, planets, and cosmic elements floating through space as she breaks free of the gravity of her love. So beautiful!

The Sound of Arrows – Into the Clouds
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z21F39BCgUk
We just love this video by The Sound of Arrows. First of all, the song is very inspiring, describing breaking free of the “streets and the cars and the crowds” to move into the clouds. The video depicts just that, as this adorable couple explore the clouds together to unlock the mysteries they find their. As we move into higher frequencies, more and more impossible things become quite ordinary. The transition from our busy yet mundane world into the clouds has already begun…

Sigur Rós – Glósóli
We saved the best for last. Our #1 cosmic video in this article is Glósóli, by Sigur Rós. This band is known for their haunting and moving music, and they’ve got a number of excellent music videos to match. This one is our favorite. It depicts a drummer boy walking around an island, gathering young children who follow him. We don’t want to ruin the rest, but you absolutely have to watch the whole thing. You might just cry. Enjoy!
Like what you hear? Sigur Rós’ CD Takk is a haunting and inspiring voyage through sound, and Glósóli is a wonderful example.
